Partner Patrick T. Jones has been a trial lawyer since 1978 and works on substantial personal injury and medical malpractice cases. Prior to opening the law firm of Jones Kelleher, Patrick was a founding partner of Cooley Manion Jones, where he managed the contingent fee practice for over twenty-five years. Throughout his career, Patrick has tried medical malpractice, product liability, civil rights, construction site, eminent domain, and general liability tort cases. His practice has also included real estate, securities, probate, insurance, and commercial litigation.

Patrick is licensed to practice law in the federal and state courts of Massachusetts, Rhode Island, and New Hampshire. Since 1983, Patrick has maintained an AV rating from Martindale-Hubbell National Law Directory, the highest rating available for legal ability and ethical standards. Since 2004, Boston Magazine surveys of 35,000 Massachusetts Bar Members have rated Patrick as one of the Top 100 Super Lawyers in Massachusetts, and Patrick is rated as one of the Top 10 Super Lawyers in Massachusetts. He is a Fellow of the American College of Trial Lawyers.

Patrick has been selected by his peers for inclusion in the publication “The Best Lawyers in America” since 2006. Patrick is listed in three categories: Personal Injury Litigation, Medical Malpractice Law, and Product Liability Litigation. The publication has named Patrick a Lawyer of the Year six times.

Since 2007, New England Super Lawyers Magazine surveys of 63,000 New England Lawyers have rated Patrick as one of the top 100 Super Lawyers in New England.

In 2012, Patrick was invited to become a member of the International Best Lawyers Advisory Board. This distinguished group represents some of the world’s most preeminent law firm leaders.

Massachusetts Lawyers Weekly selected Patrick as one of its “Lawyers of the Year” in 2005 and again in 2019.

Patrick has the unique distinction of having served as President of both the Massachusetts Academy of Trial Attorneys and the Rhode Island Association for Justice. He is a member of the American Bar Association, the Massachusetts Bar Association, the American Association for Justice, the American Trial Lawyers Association, and the American Board of Trial Advocates. He is a Senior Fellow of the Rhode Island Bar Foundation, as well as a Fellow of the Litigation Counsel of America. He has lectured on various trial issues at local law schools and has chaired and lectured at Massachusetts Continuing Legal Education seminars and at Massachusetts Academy of Trial Attorneys seminars.

Patrick spends a portion of his professional life serving on the boards of non-profit corporations both inside and outside of Massachusetts. He served on the Board of Regents at St. Ignatius High School in Cleveland, Ohio from 1995-2001, and he currently serves on the school’s Board of Visitors. He served on the Board of Directors at Catholic Memorial School of West Roxbury, Massachusetts from 1997-2005, was Chairman of the school’s Board of Directors from 1998-2000 and Vice-Chairman from 2001-2004. He served on the Board of Trustees of St. Sebastian’s School, Needham, Massachusetts, from 2003-2012. He has served on the Board of Directors at Citizens Energy Corporation, Boston, Massachusetts since 2000.

Patrick has served on the Board of Directors of the Pine Street Inn of Boston since 2010 and just completed a four year term as Board Chair. He is a member of the Board of Directors of Roger Williams University School of Law in Bristol, Rhode Island.

Patrick was born in Ithaca, New York on May 10, 1951. He grew up in Cleveland, Ohio and was educated at St. Ignatius High School in Cleveland, graduating in 1969. He attended the National University of Ireland (University College, Dublin) in 1971-1972, and graduated magna cum laude from The College of the Holy Cross in 1973.

Patrick attended Boston College Law School, graduating cum laude in 1978. At Boston College he was a member and Editor of its Law Review.

Patrick lives in Duxbury, Massachusetts with his wife Nell.
